My name is Tanisha and I am a mother of seven children, five of which are all adults. I have three grandchildren and an absolutely loving and dedicated husband. I have a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) and I work for one of the largest technological companies in the world. I have been in the IT industry for over 23 years. I’ve built my entire career around information technology, relationship management, and now, selling strategies. And although I absolutely love the company I work for and am very proud of the career that I’ve built, I have an overwhelming desire to teach others what I’ve learned over the years about home improvement and renovations, interior design and various methods, managing budgets and understanding the foundations of a home project. From my first home, to my current home, and my next and final home, I’ve grown a lot and I’m planning to take you all on my journey.
I am not your typical home blogger. I’m what you would call a jack-of-all-trades. I have always had this philosophy that I’m driven most when people tell me I can’t do something. Instead, I’ve adopted a motto of “well, what’s the reason why I CAN’T do it?” With this motto, I’ve sought secondary education, educated myself, apprenticed with others, and just simple trial and error to remove the “why I CAN’T” from that motto. The shortest distance between two points is a single line, therefore, what is in my way to getting it done and how do I remove the obstacle? In a world full of information, anything we want to learn is all here, at the tip of our fingertips, and we just need to know how to start.
I’ve renovated 4 homes over the last 10 years, and with each home renovated and sold, I have seen an average profit of $100k directly related to the changes I made. I am not a real estate expert, nor am I a certified interior designer, nor am I a general contractor. And although my husband has been in the construction industry for more than 25 years and I’ve learned so much from him and his expertise, we’ve learned a lot from simple trial and error together. I’ve learned a lot, and if I can walk you thru the lessons I’ve learned I believe you’ll have the tools to start your next project with confidence and the courage to try something new.
"If I Can Just" was created to showcase all the things I used to say to myself – “if I can just do…” and fill in the blank. I am at the very early stages of my journey to my final home. This blog is being created to show you everything from the beginning stages to the everything in between, to the end result. I'll use the opportunity to post a blog entry every two weeks to fill you all in. Excited to share it with you!
